Booking

Our studio manager will be at the studio to welcome you on the day of your booking.

Of course. Ask us to arrange for a recce
 

You will not need to pay a deposit, but any breakages will be added to your invoice.

You can book using the form on our web site here https://www.upstudios.co.uk/booking-form/. You can also pencil in a date with our bookings team by phone (07818000832) or email (kate@upstudios.co.uk).

Wherever possible. We have an overtime charge which is billable by the hour. The amount varies depending on the time of day.

We can accommodate up to 25 guests seated. 35 standing.

Yes. Email kate@upstudios.co.uk with your requirements.

You can arrive 15 minutes before the start of your booking. If you wish to arrive earlier, please ask about extending your booking.

We have a minimum of half day booking (4 hours).
 

To avoid a fee, we ask you leave the studio in the condition it was in when you arrived. We will take care of refuse, please use the bags provided.

We don't have a separate waiting area, however there is a small lobby outside the internal door where guests can wait. Alternatively there is a café in our courtyard.

UP Studios is located in a semi residential area, which means we aren't able to host parties. Sorry.

Travel and Access

There is on-street parking for which we can issue you a visitor's voucher at £10 + vat per day. We can't offer designated spaces. Parking is free over the weekend, again we can’t offer a designated space, but you can usually find a space somewhere along Wharf Road.

The 214, 43 and 205 all stop close to the studio. More services are available from Old Street and Angel Upper Street.

There is no wheelchair access or facilities.

There is no lift
 

There are two flights of stairs in a broad stairwell, each comprising 10 steps.

Our usual hours are 9am - 6pm. Overtime can be arranged.

We will supply you with a fob to gain access during your booking.

Yes. There are bicycle racks in the courtyard. We cannot however be held responsible for the security of bicycles, scooters or other personal belongings either outside or inside the studio premises.

Food and Drink

Yes. Free tea and coffee, ground and instant, are provided.

As part of our effort to create a carbon-neutral studio, we only provide plant milks. Please see more about sustainability at UP Studios below.

We have a lovely cafe in our courtyard as well as being close to City Road for Pret and Itsu among others.

We provide plates, mugs and cutlery for up to 25 people.
 

Yes

Yes. Unit 10 has a small kitchen but as part of our effort to create a carbon neutral studio we request only vegetarian/vegan cooking please.

Props and Facilities

We have seating for 26 people
 

Both studios are equipped with Oled TVs with sound connected via Airplay or HDMI. There is also an Owl video conferencing system

We can provide a whiteboard. We also have some whiteboard pens and paper, but would advise you bring your own if you're looking to do a long presentation.

Most of the furniture in the studio pics is on site.

Basic equipment includes c-stands, light stands, sand bags and backdrop stands along with grip equipment.

Sure. Our studio manager will greet you on arrival and help you with any questions, and can be reached during the rest of the day via phone.

Both studios are acoustically treated so audio is good enough for most recordings. There is almost zero street noise as we're set back from the road. We cannot control sound which may come from a neighbouring unit though so you may need to have someone available to liaise with the source.

Sure. Unit 10 has blinds. Unit 11 has large windows but these can be covered by our black drapes.

We have a limited range of colours available at £10/metre.

Unit 11 has a fresh air heat recovery system which keeps the studio cool in the summer and warm in winter. Unit 10 has a mobile air conditioning unit.

We have a mono laser printer to run off scripts etc

Yes

We have a small lobby area just outside unit 10. It's not private but can act as a waiting area for a few people. Otherwise we would suggest hiring Unit 11 also to use as a green room.

Yes, unlit greenscreen can be arranged at your request. The cost for hire is £50 per day. If you wish to light it, the lights are available at £200 /day

We have an iron and ironing board

Yes. You can connect through Bluetooth, Airplay or phono cable.

Covid Practices

Clients are expected to bring their own PPE

There are hand washing facilities in the studio and wall mounted antibacterial gel is available as you enter the studio and in the toilet

We provide floor tape so you can highlight 2m distancing as you see fit.

We provide paper towels in the bathrooms

Unit 11 has a fresh air system installed for constant air flow.

Sustainability

Sustainable practices are embedded in everything we do at UP Studios. We have implemented the following measures:

• Sustainable lighting (our film lights are energy efficient LEDs)
• Our electricity is strictly sourced from renewable sources only (Ecotricity)
• We provide oat and soya milk, rather than dairy, as well as Fairtrade teas and coffees
• All of our cleaning products and toiletries are made from plant-based, biodegradable ingredients
• All our printer paper is 100% recycled
• We operate a sustainable IT infrastructure
